Projected Las Vegas Golden Knights Roster

Today, we're going to look at the potential roster for the Las Vegas Golden Knights. The Golden Knights are the NHL's latest team, which will begin play in the 2017-18 season. The projected roster will incorporate the players taken from other NHL teams during the expansion draft, and  Reid Duke, the only current player. The draft will not be incorporated into the lineup due to the probability the Golden Knights will trade up to gain draft picks. Here is the projected roster for the Vegas Golden Knights. All cap hit amounts are according to Cap Friendly. TEAMS-EXPANSION DRAFT Anaheim Ducks- Jakob Silfverberg- $3,7500,000 Cap Hit Arizona Coyotes- Josh Jooris -$600,000 Cap Hit Boston Bruins- Malcolm Subban -$863,333 Cap Hit Buffalo Sabres- Josh Gorges -$3,900,000 Cap Hit Calgary Flames- Dennis Wideman -$5,250,000 Cap Hit Carolina Hurricanes- Lee Stempniak -$2,500,000 Cap Hit Chicago Blackhawks- Trevor Van Riemsdyk -$825,000 Cap Hit Colorado Avalanche- Carl Soderberg...

Zuccarello Carries the Rangers

Throughout the regular season, Mats Zuccarello has been a large part of the New York Rangers, helping them into the spot they are today (a second-round playoff series against the Ottawa Senators.) Zuccarello proved just how valuable he is to the team when his two goals were the deciding factor in a 3-1, series-clinching win against the Montreal Canadiens-the third goal was an empty-netter. With all due respect to Hendrik Lundqvist, who has had a great playoffs so far, Zuccarello has done a great job of stepping up and leading by example. He leads the team with three goals, and has twelve shots on goal against an elite goaltender in Carey Price. Zuccarello lead his team in assists during the regular season (44), points (59), and was third in power-play goals and power-play points. While Mats Zuccarello also leads the team with 14 penalty minutes (including an absurd six minutes in Game 1), he more than makes up for it with his leadership and gritty play. During the first period of th...

Goodbye to Calgary

The Flames were swept by the Ducks last night, becoming the first team to be eliminated from the playoffs. The Wild and Blue Jackets have each won one game in their 3-0 holes, leaving the Blackhawks to win to make their series 3-1. The Senators also have a stranglehold in their series, leading the Bruins 3-1 coming into a home Game 5. Bobby Ryan scored in the third to give the Sens the win on a tap-in off of an amazing slap pass from captain Erik Karlsson. With that, let's take a look at the things we learned Wednesday night. The Flames do not have confidence in Brian Elliott, who they pulled in the first after a soft goal in favor of Chad Johnson. The Flames also signed this guy during free agency as the one who was supposed to be their consistent starter. Our Selke finalists are the usual two suspects, Patrice Bergeron and Ryan Kesler, with a special guest appearance by Mikko Koivu, who has taken Jonathan Toews' spot for the year. That isn't fair to Koivu, who doe...

But Why

The Oilers got humiliated by the Sharks in Game 4, losing 7-0. The Sharks rode four power-play goals to that victory, but there's one penalty that lead to a goal that stood out. A penalty that looked Marchand-esque, a five-minute-major with a game misconduct to accompany it, charged to Leon Draisaitl. Remind you of anything? Brad Marchand had one that looked pretty similar, and the league was lenient on Marchand, who has a history of this kind of thing. Now, Draisaitl doesn't, so that doesn't affect him, so you have to think that Draisaitl gets at least two games for this. That keep him out for games 5 and 6, both of which the Sharks could win and then advance. If Draisaitl was suspended for only one game, and if the Sharks won that game, the Oilers would be on the brink of elimination. Draisaitl has been a big part of the Oilers' offense this year, second only to Connor McDavid on the team during the regular season. He finished eighth in the league in points with 77 ...

The World Comes Crumbling Down

The 2017 NHL Playoffs are shaping up in a way that no one saw coming. The first-seed Blackhawks and second-seed Wild are both in 3-0 holes. The Penguins-Blue Jackets series that was expected to become a slugfest is seeing a 3-0 Penguins lead. The Ducks are beating the Flames 3-0, although that wasn't as much of a surprise as the Maple Leafs having a 2-1 lead over the Capitals, who narrowly avoided being down 3-0 in Game 1. Here are some things to look at as the first round continues: Going Up: Connor McDavid McDavid has had two points so far in three games against the Sharks. By comparison, Sidney Crosby has five points in three games. Look for McDavid's offensive production to shoot up over the next few games. Maple Leafs Rookies The Toronto Maple Leafs' rookies' offensive production was amazing during the regular season. Through the first three games against President's-Trophy-winning Washington, Auston Matthews, William Nylander, and Mitch Marnier have h...
